Scratch Team Wins Group!

"After just our third season in the County Scratch League, we have risen to the challenge and WON OUR GROUP FOR 2017.

The Scratch League runs until the end of September, but the results displayed as at 26th August show that Chesfield Scratch Team cannot be beaten.

We will win Group A in Division 4 with a total of 5 matches won out of 8 played. Our closest rivals Brickenden Grange also won 5 matches but only won 20 individual games to our 23.5 individual games- every game counts!

I am absolutely delighted with this result and CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL THE TEAM who played this season. Virginia Chan, Kathy Dale, Pat Ward , Sarah Faircliff, Sally Weekes, Julie Price, Lauren Pitcher, Emma Wood and Jackie Reid.

And a huge thank you to all the Scratch Team Squad, who have supported the team and been ready and willing to play in matches when required. Vicky Thompson, Maria Mouncher, Jean Ray, Marica Kelland, Chris Newcombe.

The two other groups in Division A have also played enough matches to identify the final results before the season deadline of 30 September and unfortunately we have been beaten to promotion by an exceptionally small margin – just 0.33 points. No final for us this year, but they will be quaking next year.

Whilst this is very disappointing, it will spur us on to win our group next year – AGAIN – and gain promotion to Division 3

Top of the group!!! A brilliant result for our 2017 Scratch Team. Congratulations to you all!!!!!"

- Kathy Dale, Scratch Team Captain

Another busy week for Chesfield Ladies, taking their golf out and about.

De Paula Cup - Kathy Dale played her quarter final match against a West Herts opponent and although recovering from a shoulder injury she did manage to go down the 19th before being beaten.

Ping Pairs Plate Final - Hazel Brunnen & Alison Webber travelled north to Gainsborough in Lincolnshire to compete in this prestigious final. "We were well looked after and received a new golf bag, the weather was off and on and so was our game".

Yonex Lady Pairs Golf Tour - Coming to Hertfordshire for the first time this relatively new golf event for ladies took place at East Herts & Knebworth GC. Margaret Gentle, Pauline Humphrey, Rogie Taylor & Kathy Morris played the two day, two round event.

Again a fun day out on the golf course. Well done to all our ladies who have taken part.

Still time to buy a ticket to be in with a chance to win a 'years free membership'. Please see Captain or Vice. Only £5.

Coaching sessions will recommence on Tuesday 19th September with Jo Oliver. Starting at 3pm and lasting an hour Jo will be concentrating on the short game. Cost £7 per session. Sign up on the board as places are limited.

Autumn Meeting 21st September - If you wish to play but there are no spaces to sign up then please contact Lin Goodey (Competition Secretary) who may be able to fit you in.

Captain's Day - Sign up now for a fun day of golf, halfway house refreshments, 3 course evening dinner with welcome drink plus dancing to Disco Nyts and roulette and black jack. Tickets only £30.

Let's hope we are in for an Indian Summer so we can get out and take advantage of the course looking at its best.

Happy golfing
