UPCOMING EVENTS
Thursday 25th August – Ladies Away Day at Wyboston Lakes. A day to have fun at a beautiful venue and play for the Kelland Pairs Trophy. Your tee times and playing partners are now on the Notice Board. Please note there are no lockers available at Wyboston Lakes. Please pay your £36 via internet banking or into the black box in the ladies changing room. A huge thank you to Sue Watson and Diane Chapman for organising this day for us.

Saturday 10th September – Celebrate Captains’ Day. The golf competition in the morning and the evening event is open to all sections and your guests. See the social notice board for sign up sheet. See Kathy Dale for your tickets. I only have 40 tickets per section, so if you want to come, please let me know so I can save tickets for you and your guests.

We will be providing the usual amazing Halfway House that only Chesfield Downs Ladies Section can produce. If you would like to help me by organising the Halfway House and/or providing some items for the refreshments, I would be so very grateful.

Wednesday 28th September - Great Chesfield Downs Cake Off - Men to bake. Ladies to judge. A huge thank you to Jean Ray for organising this very popular and successful event. £5 entry per person plus raffle. Lots of cake to try and consume. All proceeds will go to the Ladies Captain’s Charity – Garden House Hospice in Letchworth.
Thank you to Mary Harrison who has provided the pro shop with a box for Ladies Section Competition Fees – this should stop anyone putting ladies money into the men’s fees box and should now make the addition of our weekly competition fees correct.

Patti Vincent has written to us all to thank us for her years of fun and friendship at Chesfield Downs. All the things she wanted to express but was too emotional to say when she left. I have put her letter on the notice board for you to read. She has also given me an extremely generous cheque for my Captain’s Charity. As you know the Garden House Hospice was a huge support to her and is a charity that is close to her heart.

We welcome Pat Watchorn to our Ladies Section this week. Some of you will know her from the Senior Section. She will be playing with Maria in the Macknight Pairs Scramble this week.

Thursday
Fun Competition “Multiply The Points”, 28th Jul
Much excitement surrounded the handing in of cards for this competition. Scores ranging from zero after blobbing 18th to a whopping 52,248, yes 52,248 points by Jill Bransby. A mathematics degree was required for Jill's score and I can just imagine how she felt coming up the 17th and 18th with such an incredible score. Second place with a huge 3304 points was Angela Chatterton. It is a great format when you get it right. Very exciting.
