GOLF RESULTS
7-Day
Saturday – SNOW !!!! Course was closed, so we were unable to play the Team Alliance competition.

Tuesday
No snow, but VERY ICY. A bracing minus 5 degrees that morning! But with no wind and blue skies it didn’t feel so cold. A competition of Double On The Odds produced some great scores. Excellent putting put Rogie Taylor into the winning position with a magnificent 30 points. Kathy Dale 2nd with 27 points. Jackie Reid in 3rd with 26 points.

Thursday
The thermostat said the weather was much warmer – a positively balmy 1 degree above zero. But with the wind chill factor, it felt much colder out there on the course. Week 3 of our Winter Stableford competition gave us more good scores. Susanna Chan scored a great 19 points and Pauline Humphrey topped even that with an excellent 20 points. Definitely good cards for the final results in a few weeks’ time. Still four more rounds to play, so we will all be chasing the leaders.

Thursday
We commenced our 9-hole Stableford competition. Very tough conditions this week – extremely muddy and bitterly cold. Best score was Hazel Brunnen with 13 points with several golfers scoring 12.  Another 5 rounds to go, so plenty to play for.

GOLF LAST WEEK

7-Day
7-day golfers played the only main course competition this week.  Double points off the Yellows – just a 9 hole competition because of the awful weather, but we were pleased to be on the course and playing.  Winners were: 1st Kathy Dale 22 pts, 2nd Linda Brown 20 pts, 3rd Pat Ward 19 pts

We were delighted to welcome back Sue Brady from her 7 month absence with injury. She was thrilled to find that she has not lost her touch.

Tuesday & Thursday
Main course was closed.  The Par 3 was open and some ladies have practiced their short game.  Julie Price parred 6 of the Par 3 holes on Tuesday – now that is really good golf.

GOLF THIS WEEK 9 – 15 JAN

7-Day
7-day members are playing in the Mixed Winter League (Men’s and Ladies’ section combined).  It is run as an Order of Merit competition throughout the winter months.  This week is a pairs competition “Double Greensomes”.

Tuesday
Join in a fun game of GRUESOMES!! Should be excruciatingly hilarious.

Julie Price has converted all the 2016 formats that Brigid has organised for us onto the DIARY CARDS and these will be available from Tuesday 12th Jan.

Tuesday tee times have filled up very fast.  No additional tee times are currently available so please add your name as a reserve and if anyone is unable to play, please let someone on the reserve list know. Thank you.

Thursday
Change of format - Because the start of play is currently all off the 10th, we have changed the usual 12-hole Eclectic to a 9-hole Stableford competition, run over 7 weeks, with the best 4 cards to count as your score. (First week no play, so 6 more chances to get a good score).

FUNDRAISING

In December, Amanda Macknight organised and hosted a Christmas morning at her house.  She raised a fantastic £285 for our 2015 Captain Jean Ray’s charities.  Then an additional amount for my own 2016 charity The Garden House Hospice in Letchworth.  Thank you Amanda – you are a star!!
