2015 Diaries Now Available Online

The 2015 Ladies and Seniors diaries are now available in digital form. You can download these to your phone or tablet or just view them here on the website.  Click on the What's Hot links or navigate via the menu bar.  There is also an easy to view list of the events for ALL sections under "Upcoming Events" on the left hand sidebar.

Note that the online/downloadable version includes the following corrections to the Club's paper copy:

• O’Sullivan Cup - March 19th
• Ann Warner Trophy& Maureen Eastwood Salver - April 30th
• Ping Pairs Betterball - May 28th

It also includes the Scratch Team matches and details of the Tuesday Club competitions.

Ken Bird Trophy

The Juniors win after scoring 147 points. Well done.

The format was 6 players per team with 4 best stableford scores counting. Harry Cater scored 39 off a 5 handicap & Lucy Archer 37 off a 11 handicap, maybe we can get Lucy on the Ladies team next year! Second came the Men's team with 138 points, Ladies third with 137 (well done Patti scoring 38pts) and the Seniors 132.

We all enjoyed the day very much even though the Men would like to be creative with scoring/rules for next year!!!

Spring Meeting 2014

My first big day! The Spring Meeting last Thursday was held in glorious sunshine with 48 lady players.

Ed & the ground staff had the course all ready for us.  Joel, Clara & their team treated us to an excellent lunch. My congratulations to all those of you who won Cups, Trophies & the 35 Birdies!  Of course I couldn't have done all this without the help from the committee, Joan & Betty.  Thank you ladies.

The team in 1st place was Chris Bryce, Marion Dix, Jenny Feaver & Kathy Morris with a healthy 94points...well done.

Mail on Sunday National Golf Club Classic 2014

The Ladies Section team played their 4th round match of the Mail on Sunday National Golf Club Classic. The match was played at home against John O'Gaunt (with their caddies in tow). It was closely contested and was settled with the last putt on the 18th hole in the final game. Unfortunately, we eventually lost 3-2 overall thereby going out of the competition.

Nonetheless, our 2014 campaign had some great highlights including reaching the 3rd round for the first time and an unexpected but emphatic 4-1 away win at Knebworth. The Ladies who played this year were Julie Price, Kathy Dale, Lauren Pitcher, Virginia Chan, Pauline Harrison, Sarah Faircliff, and Marica Kelland. Many thanks to Julie for captaining the team and handling the logistics of organising our matches.

Good luck to the Men's Section who recently made it through to Round 5.

Hole In One! - Lauren Pitcher

Congratulations to Lauren Pitcher who recorded her first hole-in-one during today's O'Sullivan Cup competition. The impressive feat was achieved on the 3rd hole where Lauren landed a perfect iron shot onto the green which rolled straight into the cup much to the excitement of her teammates who could be heard cheering from several holes away! To mark the occasion Lauren kindly announced that she will be making a donation to the Ladies Captain's charity. Well done Lauren on adding yet another lady's name to the hole-in-one honours board.

As the Macknight Pairs Scramble approaches we are reminded from last year about SLOW PLAY. Please familiarize yourselves with the format before going out on the course.

Essential rules and etiquette:-
Don't rush your shot but walk quickly between each one.
Beginners are welcomed by everyone when they are seen to be keeping their place on the course.
Don't spectate - anticipate.
Always be ready to play your own shot especially on the greens. Keep moving forwards.
Never mark your scorecard on the putting green. Do this on the next teeing ground.
Invite players behind to play through if you're taking time.

This is a fun pairs format please do not unduly delay play.

Happy New Year Ladies!
